Sectional Championships

Before sectionals started the champion was determined by the top ranked team in the coach's poll. In 1978 the top two teams played each other for the championship. McQuaid and Aquinas played each other in that inaugural championship game. The tournament was expanded to four teams in 1981 and then eight teams in 1994. There are several classifications ranging from AA, the largest class, to D the smallest.
