To match my professional interests, I've participated in a number of interesting clubs at UChicago so far.
Current Resume
PGI is a student-run finance and technology club for students interested in pursuing careers in quantitative finance. My first year, I participated in their education program, which involved practicing finance fundamentals like accounting, competitive analysis, developing stock pitches, and valuation techniques (see below for a report I created) with supplementary introductions to Python-based modern portfolio theory and linear pricing models. This past year and beyond, I will be on their Quantitative Development team, where I will be conducting project research to build dynamic trading infrastructure/portfolio allocation algorithms with CloudQuant data.
Pareto Solutions is a student-run pro-bono consulting club for students interested in problem solving and designing client solutions.
Most recently, I served as the Technical Project Leader for the Equity Priority Area (EPA) data analysis ridership workflow of a roughly $6.4B ridesharing company, during which I led a team that employed LASSO regression to assign demand scores to each station that ultimately were used in an objective function minimized via gradient descent to spatially identify optimal locations for new high-demand stations. These points were visualized, trends between EPA and non-EPA demand analyzed (t-test), and presented to the client along with other workflows investigating dockless ride trends and station replacement targets. I am not able to share the final deliverable due to NDA specifications.
This past year, I also advised the industry expansion of a Chicago-based sustainable water and drink supplier through creating demand, revenue, and cost models in Python, informed by mathematics and well-researched estimates.
My first year, I helped to develop crowdfunding strategies for JelikaLite, a wearable medical device company helping children with ASD, in addition to providing case studies, example incentive structures, and existing legal framework. I also won a case competition for Pure Barre Hyde Park. My first year, I joined the Client Sourcing Team, in which I aided in cold and warm client outreach efforts through targeted communications and client pitches.
Maroon Capital is a student-run, selective quantitative finance club in which students learn about relevant skills (probability, options theory, market-making, etc.) and career outcomes (trading, research, buy/sell-side, etc.) while participating in strategy games (e.g., Colonel Blotto) and practicing common industry interview questions. In Winter Quarter 2024, I was responsible for working in a group to construct, test, and present our own mean reversion trading strategy, which involved a basket of utilities ETFs and combined RSI, Stochastic Oscillator, and normalized WSMA signals, earning 2nd place overall.
FM is a selective, three-year program focused on building quantitative finance acumen through weekly technical workshops, exclusive treks, the UChicago Trading Competition, and coursework at the Chicago Booth School of Business. This past years, I visited a number of trading firms in Chicago, NYC, and London, while learning trading principles in options/futures, commodities, swaps, ML, market making, and data analysis.
UChicago Career Treks are school-sponsored opportunities for students interested in a variety of fields (finance, government, law, etc.) to travel to another national/international location and meet with relevant employers. During my first year, I participated in a Business and Sports Trek to Pittsburgh, PA and a Business Trek to Miami, FL, meeting with employers like J.P. Morgan, McKinsey & Co., Relm Insurance, Restaurant Brands International (RBI), the Miami Foundation, the Pittsburgh Steelers/Penguins, and others. Recently, I participated in an FM Career Trek to New York City, during which I spoke to employers at Two Sigma, Jane Street, Morgan Stanley, DRW, Citadel, and others to learn more about careers in quantitative finance. Most recently, I traveled to London to learn from firms like ARQ, Optiver, Patron Capital, and others.
