My role with the board is to secure consistent venue for our monthly meetings. Success for my role is finding locations that inspire the attending membership. The hosting venue should also benefit from an energized referral stream as attending managers return to their respective properties. Ideally the relationship represents a win-win situation for all parties involved.
Duties can range but contact and networking with the attending members as well as potential members is a must. Often a site visit is needed to gauge the layout of the space as well as its capacity and audio/visual capabilities. The location director is the link between the hosting property and the board of directors’ wishes so they must be mindful of the balance between the responsibilities of hosting an effective meeting and the wishes of a property showcasing itself in the best light.

Bio:
Patrick Volner began his journey in wine on the East Coast in 2001. Working as a restaurateur, he opened and operated restaurants in Tampa, St. Louis and Sacramento before making the move to the Napa Valley to pursue his real passion, wine. He’s worked on the valley floor in Rutherford before moving into hillside wines in the Hennessey Hills outside St. Helena. He is involved in all aspects of winery operations from hospitality to harvest and everything in between. Quick with a joke or a story, he always has time to collaborate on how to keep Napa Valley one of the premiere destinations in the world.
