Welcome to Shiv Bhosale's Design Portfolio!
I'm Shivjeet (I go by Shiv), a final-year CS Graduate student at Georgia Tech. I'm currently specializing in Machine Learning because I'm good at Math and Computers! However, I also love design! More specifically, I'm passionate about technology and design that can aid in learning and acquiring new skills. This page captures some design work that I've done!
Quizizz is a learning platform that provides engaging, gamified quizzes and lessons for educational purposes.
Teachers can create their own quizzes and lessons or choose from a vast library of shared content.
The platform supports live activities and homework assignments, complete with detailed performance reports.
It is device-friendly, allowing students to participate using personal computers, laptops, or smartphones.
Quizizz also integrates with learning management systems for streamlined activity assignment and grading.
This section of the portfolio showcases the improvements that our team made to the Quizziz desktop app to assess prior knowledge.

Doesnāt have feature to assess studentsā prior knowledge.
Doesnāt have open-ended questions.
Hard for users to assess the difficulty of the quiz.
Lacking feedback and explanation for incorrect answers.
No way to differentiate between guessing and actually knowing.
Prior knowledge encompasses the information, understanding, and skills that a learner already possesses before encountering new content or experiences. It acts as a foundation for acquiring new knowledge and plays a vital role in how individuals absorb and integrate new information. Skilled educators evaluate and tap into their students' prior knowledge to enhance learning, adapting their teaching methods to bridge gaps and expand existing understanding. Recognizing and incorporating pre-existing knowledge can promote deeper learning and improve retention of new concepts, which is a key focus of our work on Quizziz.
User testing on the Quizizz app identified key areas for enhancement, leading to feature proposals like Adaptive Difficulty and Misconception Identification to customize and improve the learning process:
Pre-Quiz Survey
Concept Linking
Elaboration Prompts
Collaborative ChallengesĀ
Knowledge Mixture Quizzes
Misconception Identification
Confidence Assessment
Adaptive Difficulty
This portfolio focuses on the features highlighted in bold letters.

Storyboarding plays a crucial and pivotal role in the development of features within our projects. We dedicated significant time and effort to meticulously craft detailed storyboards that serve as the blueprint for all our innovative features.
Every single storyboard delved deep into the intricacies of user interaction with each app feature, where every feature was personified by a distinct persona. For your convenience, we have provided sample storyboard illustrations on the left for your perusal and reference.
In the subsequent phases, our focus will shift towards evaluating the actual implementation and execution of these meticulously planned and crafted features.

Donāt assume that the students will use their prior knowledge before taking a Quiz! Present a survey to trigger recall before every quiz.

Knowing and Understanding are not the same. Use slider with discrete steps instead of slider with continuous values to minimize thinking efforts.
The inclusion of open-ended questions will trigger the students to actively engage in the thinking process and apply their prior knowledge to the specific context.

Incorporating open-ended questions can motivate students to actively participate in critical thinking and utilize their existing knowledge within a given scenario.
Student performance is enhanced when prior knowledge is activated, so easier questions cover foundational material and prompt connections to harder questions. Students should be presented with learning at the right levels. If the student struggles on easy questions, the quiz ends early and suggests easier quizzes.
