What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

Google is a search engine! A search engine can be linked to a vast ocean of information, with each website acting like a fish, occupying its own space in this ocean. Our goal is to catch or in this case utilize these.

Let us think of our brains as buckets used to gather these fish satisfying our hunger for knowledge. Usually, the closer the fish are, the easier they are to access. Similarly, the higher a website ranks in Google search results, the easier it is to access it.

Why do we need SEO?

To answer this question, we need to consider why a website is needed in the first place --- online presence.

But why need online presence:

  1. To showcase our work portfolio

  2. To attract leads and make them customers.

  3. To work on a hobby

For this example, let us narrow our focus on attracting leads from a business standpoint! When potential leads encounter challenges related to our field of expertise, we are providing a solution or a service for, they intend to search online for us (directly or indirectly).

Our aim is to be able to pull up the rank of our website from wherever it is to close to the top. Until our websites are found easily, our potential leads are going to be taken by someone else.

That is where SEO steps into the scene! We will be utilizing certain strategies to make our websites visible enough to be seen by leads through a proper alignment with the E-E-A-T framework.

What is the E-E-A-T framework?

According to The Ultimate Guide to SEO in 2023 (hubspot.com) we understand that relevance and authority are key factors in shaping this framework! The framework stands for:

  1. Expertise - This refers to both the firsthand experience and the knowledge gained through diverse sources

  2. Experience - Firsthand experience of the product or the concept being referred to.

  3. Authoritativeness - The content made is being linked by other sources of website visitors indicating a sense of authority stemming from trust

  4. Trustworthiness - The relevance and credibility of the content being shared.
